Touchdown!
Today I am going to share something a bit different than normal. Today I am going to talk about personal achievement in the form of a sporting comeback by the American football player, Alex Smith who is the Quarterback of the Washington Football Team.
Alex Smith suffered a horrific injury about 2 years ago during a football game. The injury he suffered was a broken leg which resulted in the skin being split open allowing grass and soil to enter his body. The resulting infections and complications required multiple surgeries not only to repair the shattered bone but also to remove almost all his calf muscle which had to be replaced with muscle tissue from his quadriceps. So severe was the condition of his leg in the weeks after the injury, that his life was at stake and he almost lost his leg.
But he didn’t. He made the decision to fight and recover. He made the decision to resume a regular life as best he could and he did!. For most people, this would be enough. Just to walk, and maybe run. Just to be a father and a family man again would have been enough.
However, Alex Smith went further and completely rehabilitated. And guess what? He is now back playing American football once again as the starting Quarterback for the Washington Football Team.
Here is a link to a short YouTube clip that tells his fightback story. Touchdown! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNq_D20eDa8
